John E. Keefe Jr., is a founding and managing partner of Keefe Bartels, LLC, a firm dedicated to representing seriously injured plaintiffs and victims of fraud. Offices are located throughout New Jersey in Edison, New Brunswick, Newark, and Red Bank.
John is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, a designation granted by the N.J. Supreme Court and held by less than 2% of the state’s attorneys, and admitted to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey, the District of Columbia, and the Northern District of Florida. John has earned recognition for his civil trial practice. As a plaintiffs' liaison counsel in the historic consumer fraud national class action, Talalai v. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., John played a key role in the largest consumer settlement, valued between $1 billion and $3 billion dollars.
John has been selected as one of the Leading Plaintiff Lawyers in America, as published by Law Dragon 3000. This recognition is given to less than one-half of one percent of America's 1.1 million lawyers. For 2010 and the past four consecutive years, John has been distinguished as a New Jersey “Super Lawyer,” a list that includes no more than five percent of the state’s lawyers. He has also been named to New Jersey Law Journal's prestigious “Top 40 under 40” list. John is the past president of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey, a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and improve the civil and criminal justice system in New Jersey.
John is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and Seton Hall University School of Law in New Jersey. While in law school, he interned with the Honorable Harold A. Ackerman, a U.S. District Judge, and upon graduation, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kenneth MacKenzie, presiding Judge of the Chancery Division, General Equity Part, in Morris and Sussex counties, New Jersey. John began his career as an associate attorney at Wilentz, Goldman, and Spitzer and went on to be named a partner at Lynch Martin before becoming a founding and co-managing member of Keefe Bartels, LLC.. John is a member of the American Bar Association, the Trial Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Middlesex and Monmouth Counties Bar Associations, the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey, the American Association for Justice, and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
