Bradford H. Bernstein, President of the Law Offices of Spar & Bernstein, is not only a leader in the field of immigration law but one of the world’s most passionate online voices on the hot-button topic of immigration reform.

Graduating in 1993 from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a Merit Scholar, Mr. Bernstein has followed in the footsteps of his legendary grandfather, Harry Spar, one of the original members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a great innovator in immigration law, and who founded the New York City firm in 1958.

Mr. Bernstein took over the management of Spar & Bernstein, which is located in downtown Manhattan and has departments in immigration, criminal defense, personal injury, and matrimonial/family law, upon his grandfather’s retirement in 2001. In the years since, he has expanded the firm from seven employees to nearly 50.

New York Immigration legal expert Brad Bernstein discusses naturalized citizenship through marriage. 

As a US citizen, you can bring your fiance(e) to the US to get married. For that, you would need to file an I-129F petition with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS - formerly INS) for your fiance(e). To be eligible for this petition, you and your fiance(e) must both be single and be willing and able to marry. Also, you and your fiance(e) must have met in person at least once in the two years before you file the petition. This requirement can be waived if such a meeting would violate established customs or cause extreme hardship.
