According to AARP, Bureau of Labor Statistics census surveys show the boomer households spent $61,204 for expenses from housing to family pets. Boomers spent the most on housing, with the average cost being $18,197.
AARP reports typical Gen-X families on average took in more money, $80,937 after taxes and spent $68,532. Millennials took in the least at $56,618 and spent $48,576.
