President Donald Trump says the U.S. needs a good shutdown in September when the current funding deal runs out. In a couple of tweets, Trump said the shutdown would give lawmakers the opportunity to fix the "mess" in government.
The tweets apparently point to a deal Congress reached that averts a government shutdown until September. The bill does not include funding for Trump's Mexico border wall, cuts to departments, or the stripping of federal funds from sanctuary cities.
Trump also suggested the election of more Republicans or a Senate rule change since the legislation needs 60 votes to end a filibuster on a bill.
