President Donald Trump signed an order Tuesday tightening a temporary visa program used by companies to bring skilled foreign workers to the United States.
Trump signed the “Buy American, Hire American” order during a visit to the Snap On, tool manufacturer, headquarters in Wisconsin.
The temporary H-1B visas are often used by technology companies. Trump said he wants to protect the American worker and put America first. He said H-1B visas are currently awarded through a random lottery, but should be given to the most skilled and highest paid applicants and should never be used to replace Americans.
