U.S.-led Airstrike Meant for ISIS Killed Syrian Allies

A U.S.-led airstrike meant for ISIS killed 18 Syrian fighters that were allies, according to the Pentagon. The bombing happened on Tuesday, April 11.

NPR reports U.S. Central Command said the airstrike was "misdirected." The New York Times reports the strike was the third time in a month American-led airstrikes may have killed civilians or allies.

The Washington Post reports coalition officials said the strike was requested by "partnered forces" and hit Syrian Democratic Forces. The airstrike is under investigation.
