U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with Russian President Vladimir Putin as tensions over the President Trump approved missile strikes in Syria deepen. They met at the Kremlin Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting between the two came after hours of accusations exchanged back and forth between the White House and the Kremlin. The U.S. says Russia tried to cover up the fact that the Syrian government used chemical gases on its own people and knew about it. The Kremlin says the White House’s charge is not true.
Putin said U.S.-Russia tensions have degraded.
Tillerson also met with Russia’s foreign minister.
