President-elect Donald Trump is moving forward with plans to build a Mexico border wall, but for now taxpayers may have to foot the bill. That of course would break his campaign promise of forcing Mexico to pay for the wall.
Politico reports Trump's team and House Republicans are considering using a 2006 George W. Bush law the authorized the construction of more than 700 miles of "physical barrier." The law was never implemented and didn't have a sunset provision -- so that would mean Trump would pick off where Bush left off with money from Congress.
Trump has estimated the wall will cost $8 billion.
Trump says his decision is based on speed, but Mexico will reimburse the U.S. later.
