President Donald Trump praised what he called a "special relationship" between the U.S. and U.K. during a joint press conference he held with British PM Theresa May at the White House. May is the first foreign leader Trump has met with since he became president.
USA Today reports Trump said the relationship between the two countries "has been one of the greatest forces in history for justice and peace," before mentioning his mother was born in Scotland.
May congratulated Trump on what she called a "stunning" victory. She also mentioned Trump will make a state visit to the UK later this year.
USA Today reports the press conference only lasted 18 minutes.
