Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto cancelled a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House...hours after Trump threatened to cancel the meeting if Mexico doesn't pay for the southern border wall he is planning to build. The two were supposed to meet next week to discuss trade and immigration.
In a translated tweet, Peña Nieto said, "This morning we informed the White House that I will not attend the scheduled work meeting for next Tuesday with @POTUS."
Earlier in the morning, Trump tweeted it would be better to cancel the meeting if Mexico won't pay for the border wall.
Peña Nieto has said multiple times Mexico will not pay for the wall.
CNN reports White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said they will keep the lines of communication open and look to schedule something in the future.
