The first day of confirmation hearings for president-elect Donald Trump's Secretary of State pick and former ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson -- ended with his confirmation in question.
Tillerson was mostly grilled on his ties to Russia. During a tense exchange with Trump's former rival, Republican Senator Marco Rubio -- Tillerson refused to say Russian President Vladimir Putin violated the rules of war and have conducted war crimes in Aleppo... that he's a war criminal.
CNN reports after the hearing, Rubio wouldn't confirm if he would vote for Tillerson or not.
Rubio's vote is key -- since Republicans have a one-vote margin on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.
Reuters reports Tillerson also may have set the stage for a confrontation with Beijing, saying China should be denied access to islands the country has built in the highly contested South China Sea.
