ISIS Leader Killed In Iraq By US Airstrike

In another example of ISIS leadership being hit hard by coalition efforts, the Pentagon press secretary announced that one of the Islamic State’s top leaders in Iraq was killed in a US airstrike last week. Abu Wahib, considered the military chief of the Anbar province in Iraq, was traveling along with three other ISIS members in a vehicle in western Iraq at the time of the airstrike.

Wahib was a member of Al Qaeda in Iraq but then was detained by US forces roughly 10 years ago. According to the Washington Post, he was transferred to an Iraqi prison after the US withdrawal in 2011 but was then broken out. He was considered of one of the more colorful but brutal ISIS commanders.
