Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Dead At 46

Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford died today of cancer; he was forty six. The Canadian press called Ford the world’s most infamous mayor. His antics were contrary to his conservative policies.

In 2010 he won the race for Mayor by historic margins in the face of the political elite. Although he claims he was the victim of an overzealous news media, there have been numerous accounts regarding his drinking, racially insensitive comments, crude statements about women, and even video surfacing of him smoking crack cocaine. He had admitted to entering treatment and relapsing.

He also faced scrutiny for frequently taking time off from his job as Mayor to help coach a high school football team.

He is survived by his wife, two children, and his brother Doug Ford who is a city council member.
