Super Tuesday results have claimed their first victim as Dr. Ben Carson announced he is not attending tomorrow nights GOP debate. The retired neurosurgeon was at the top of polls in the fall of last year but has fallen considerably since Donald Trump and Ted Cruz emerged as the ones to beat. He barely made a dent in Super Tuesday voting taking either fourth or fifth in all states.
Although he was quite popular last year his calm demeanor made him nearly invisible during most debate appearances and was often challenged on foreign policy and even health care, his specialty.
Now we have four GOP candidates left and Carson’s support is expected to back Ted Cruz reportedly because of the evangelical Christian connection both campaigns had. That push could tip Cruz over Marco Rubio for good and establish him as the one to take on Donald Trump.
