An Ebola vaccine that actually works has finally been developed. The World Health Organization says the vaccine was given to people in a trial study conducted in Guinea.
The W.H.O says there were no Ebola cases reported in the nearly 6,000 people who received the vaccine. In comparison, there were 23 Ebola cases reported in those who did not receive the vaccine. American pharmaceutical company Merck is manufacturing the vaccine.
W.H.O. says during the 2013-2016 West African Ebola outbreak more than 11,300 people died.
