Ikea To Pay $50 Million in Wrongful Death Settlement

Ikea has reached a $50 million dollar settlement with the families of three toddlers who died from Ikea's furniture crushing them. According to NPR, the lawyers say the money will be divided between the families.

The settlement stems from unsecure MALM dressers tipping over and killing children around the age of two. As part of the settlement, Ikea will have to meet voluntary safety standards for dressers and donate hundreds of thousands to children's hospitals and children's safety organization and its "Secure It" program, which encourages customers to anchor dressers to walls.
