Mexico Fireworks Explosion Kills at Least 31

In the aftermath of a deadly explosion near Mexico city Tuesday evening, witnesses describe it as a war zone with charred bodies.

FOX News reports a faint smell of gunpowder was still noticeable a day after the explosion at the San Pablito Fireworks Market near Mexico City.

Officials are still combing through the scene and the charred remains.

So far they say at least 31 people were killed and dozens more injured in the blast.

The Associated Press reports relatives of workers at the fireworks market searched hospitals for loved ones and are turning their attention to an apparent lax security, which allowed vendors to display dangerous explosives in walkways between stalls.

The cause of the explosion is still not known.
