National Intelligence Director James Clapper Resigns

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper submitted his letter of resignation. He told the House Select Committee it "felt pretty good."

This means he will not stay on through the transition and serve under Donald Trump.
The BBC reports analysts say Clapper is sending a signal to the Trump administration that they must now speed up the transition.

In a tweet, The Office of the Director of National Intelligence said Clapper's resignation will be effective at noon on Jan. 20, 2017.
