2 Houses Flattened In Paterson, New Jersey After Gas Explosion

Two homes are leveled and 15 are damaged after a house explosion in Paterson, New Jersey. Authorities responded to a smell of gas at one of the homes Tuesday morning just after 9 a.m. Responding firefighters and officers say they heard a hissing noise when they arrived on scene. People were evacuated from the area and at 9:24 a.m. one of the houses exploded.

Fire officials say they believe everyone is accounted for. At the time of this report, utility company, Public Service Electric & Gas, shut off gas mains and electric service. The incident is under investigation.
