Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has filed a lawsuit against President Obama over his executive action on immigration reform. The case is filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
The reason for the lawsuit? Arpaio claims the President’s actions are an “unconstitutional abuse” and “exceed the power of a president within the U.S. constitution”. Arpaio also argues the executive action will lead to "increased release of criminal aliens back onto the streets." The suit was also filed against Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Leon Rodriquez, and U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.
Sheriff Arpaio is not alone in his opposition to President Obama’s executive order. Current Governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer and Governor elect Doug Ducey have both expressed their opposition to Obama’s actions.
