Join The Sleep Revolution

Are you getting enough sleep? If you are like most Americans, probably not. Research shows that 40% of Americans are not getting the minimum seven hours of sleep that is recommended. The problem has been with us since the 1990s.

Ariana Huffington says that it is time for a sleep revolution, and that is the title of her new book. In “The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life One Night at a Time,” Huffington discusses the effect of sleep—and the lack of it—on leadership and success, both in business and in life. Huffington says that people cannot function as well on five hours of sleep as they can on seven or eight hours. “It’s a delusion that affects not only our personal health but our productivity and decision-making.” People who are sleep deprived will lose out on good ideas they might have had with enough sleep. “[W]e may not be able to come up with creative solutions to problems, or we may be short-tempered or waste a day going through the motions.”

Huffington says that it is time to do more than just alk about sleep: it’s time to act.
